Eleven Months
Let the countdown to Bubba's first birthday begin!
He's getting so big! He also has a definite personality now - he's very quiet and observant when in a new situation, until he has a chance to assess things, and then once he's confident he knows what is going on, he gets totally into it. He's got a pretty good sense of humor and is very silly. He "talks" all the time - to toys, to the dogs, to himself, to us. He's constantly trying to figure out how to access things and accomplish new feats, and he doesn't give up easily.
He can climb on the couch, he managed to climb on the coffee table (and then promptly slipped, bumped his chin, and bit his tongue) and he can even stand on his own for almost a minute.
He's still a really good eater and will eat almost anything we feed him. More and more he gets samplings from what we have for meals along with his own food. It doesn't matter how much he's had though, or how recently - if he sees you eating, he WILL be by your side in a matter of seconds to beg with the dogs.
He's getting longer, but staying skinny! We have pants that he outgrew in length before he ever managed to fit in the waist. As a result, he wears a lot of pants and shorts that are constantly falling down. We call him our skinny butt baby. :)
We have not gone back to the bottle and so I gave away our nice glass ones. It's all sippy cups, straws, and regular drinking glasses from here on out. We use shot glasses for him because they're just the right size for a baby. He still wants nothing to do with holding his own cup or spoon though. Occasionally, he'll go over to the table where his cup is sitting and bend down so he can take a drink, but he won't pick up the cup.
He's also really into pointing at stuff. His favorite things at which to point are ceiling fans and light fixtures. Here he's pointing at the wrist strap for my camera.
He loves to play with magazines, shoes, and drinking straws. Hammering things or using his rhythm sticks to pound on the furniture or floors is also a popular pastime.
The big new thing that we started doing this month was working on potty training. I know it sounds insane to be potty training a baby that is under a year and can't walk yet, because I thought my friend who was doing it with her kid was insane for doing it! (I just chalked it up to her being Canadian, ha ha! Luv ya Big D) I've been doing some reading and research though, and I'm a believer now... so far. There will definitely be a post about this in the next week or so.
What this child looks like a lot of the time these days. Except not sideways. Can I get a "Stupid Blogger"???
He also spent a lot of time crawling over to me, pulling himself up, and trying to snatch the camera out of my hand. Yeah, I don't think so, buddy boy!
