Announcing...
Baby announcements! Not that there is a baby to announce yet, but I'm smart enough to know that there is no way in hell that I'm going to be able to make these AFTER the baby has arrived, you know? I went ahead and got myself a bit of a head start on these. I've cut, scored, and folded all the cardstock bases. I've cut the patterned paper into strips stuck them in place, and trimmed the ends. Next I have to get more ribbon, cut it to length and tie it in place. I did make one complete one, as a mock up so I could show it off:
Here's the outside.
Here's what it looks like when opened. The only difference in the final product will be that instead of a white rectangle of cardstock on the inside, it will have this:
I have it all nice and saved in layers in Photoshop, so all I have to do is drop in a photo of the baby, add the pertinent information, and send them off to get printed. I'll probably send them to Kinkos to get printed on glossy cardstock, but they're sized so I could print them as 4 x 6 photographs at Walgreens as well. That is, if they don't give me grief about the copyright thing, because they seem to think all their customers are morons who don't understand photo editing or how to work a camera properly!
My husband pointed out to me the other day that my belly button is getting shallower. Sure enough, I took a picture of it (that's the only way I can really see down there now) and I could see that it was. It's funny, because instead of "popping" like a bunch of people said it would, it seems to be doing more of a slow turning inside out. You know how a navel piercing usually has one hole inside the navel and one above? Well, now both holes are above. It looks like I had a clueless piercer!
And no, I won't be posting that photo. It's pretty damn gross looking, with the piercing and the weird plastic tubing for the temporary jewelry, and the stretch marks, and the shingles marks... ick.
